About Us

Red River Valley REA (Rural Electric Association) is a co-operative in the business of distributing electricity to homes and commercial entities.

As a co-operative, we operate on a not-for-profit basis. If the co-op finds it has collected more than it needs to run itself, members share the profits (patronage capital). For example, in 2011, the co-op credited back members' patronage capital accounts more than a nickel of every dollar collected. Members of the co-op are the only ones eligible to run for the Board of Directors and vote in elections.

Member Meeting

REA's annual meeting takes place on the 2nd Monday in August at the REA Headquarters. Registration begins at 2:00 PM, and the meeting starts at 6:30 PM. Prizes are drawn the following morning.

Occasionally we have an election for an REA board member, depending on whose term has expired and whether anyone registers to run against an incumbent member.

Our Territory

We are headquartered in Marietta, OK and have a branch office west of Kingston, OK. Our territory stretches from Lake Texoma in the East to near Ryan in the West, to the Arbuckle Mountains in the North and to the Red River in the South. Our 2,800 miles of electric lines are placed through the counties of Carter, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, and Marshall.

REA distributes electricity, on a not-for-profit basis, to the rural areas outlined in solid lines within the five counties shown. The territory is made up of District I, District II, and District III.
