Oklahoma Youth Tour

Over 70 outstanding high school juniors will be chosen to represent Oklahoma in Washington D.C.

Local rural electric cooperatives choose students each year to represent Oklahoma in Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. They will join more than 1,800 other students from co-ops across the nation on a week-long, ALL-EXPENSE PAID trip to tour national landmarks, meet with their congressional representatives and learn what it means to be an actively involved citizen.

 
 
 

Youth Tour Contest

2023-2024 Youth Tour Contest 

1.     Write an essay of 500-750 words on the following subject: Why is Co-op Principle#7, Concern for Community, important to today’s electric co-ops?

2.     Complete the Official Student Entry From provided by the REA.

3.     Submit your Essay and Entry Form to: courtney@rrvrea.com, no later than 4:00 p.m. December 31, 2023.

The top five student essays from REA’s territory will advance to the second portion of the contest.  Finalist will be invited to give an oral presentation of their essay at our Youth Tour banquet on February 8, 2024 at REA’s Headquarters in Marietta. 

At the banquet, judges will score the oral presentation and the top two students with the highest score will each be awarded a 7 day, all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. (June 14-20, 2024).

3rd-5th places will receive the following cash prizes:

3rd - $500

4th – $400

5th – $300

Energy Camp

Energy Camp is a yearly weeklong summer camp designed to help cooperative youth develop leader-ship and team building skills and learn about one of rural America’s most important accomplishments — rural electrification. 8th grade campers experience electricity in a new light! Each year, more than 80 students participate in Energy Camp.

 
 
 

Energy Camp Contest

Students will complete a 250-500 word essay on the subject: “What Would Life Be Like Without Electricity?“

Top 6 Winners will be invited to the Energy Camp Banquet April 4 at the REA Headquarters and Energy
Camp will be held May 28-31, 2024 near Hinton, OK



Deadline to submit Essays is December 31, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
